Gorman Cup

Pink Phoenix™ holds the “Gorman Cup” exhibition race every year during the Rose Festival. This tradition began in 1998 and honors the memory of Pink Phoenix™ founding captain, Michele Gorman who lost her battle with breast cancer in the spring of that year. In the Gorman Cup exhibition race, Pink Phoenix™ members divide themselves among several boats so that other breast cancer survivors may join them in paddling or riding along while racing across the Willamette River.  With this event, Pink Phoenix™ honors all breast cancer survivors whether paddling, riding or watching.   The Gorman Cup celebrates Survivorship, Sport and Sisterhood.
