Pink Phoenix is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower breast cancer survivors through the sport of dragon boating. Teammates find strength and quality of life by paddling together while having the common thread of a breast cancer diagnosis – the only requirement to join the team. Our team name honors the mythical bird who rises from the ashes symbolizing rebirth and the beginning of new life. We feel this replicates where many of us find ourselves after a breast cancer diagnosis. We are all looking to begin a new chapter in life after cancer.
We are a diverse group: working professionals, retirees, stay-at-home parents, students, grandparents, long-time survivors and those just recently diagnosed or going through treatment.
The Pinks are on the river 3 times a week during race season and travel to local, regional and out of state races from March through October.

I paddle because I absolutely love being a part of a team made up of breast cancer survivors looking to be more than victims of cancer. Paddling provides exercise, peace of mind, strong team spirit and I love being on the water.
I paddle to beat cancer and to prove I’m a fighter. I choose dragon boating because it’s fun and accessible for women of all fitness levels with no age limits.
Paddling gave me hope and helped me to regain physical strength after breast cancer. Now it fulfills me with friendship, fun and sport while inspiring others.
I paddle to calm my spirit, focus my energy and to celebrate life!
Physical strength, mental rejuvenation and camaraderie.
